Coordinator of Youth Writer’s Camps


Qualifications
  • Completed an Invitational Summer Institute
  • Experience leading or assisting in a writing camp or club
  • Experience as a classroom teacher
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willing to travel to camp sites while camps are in progress
  • Able to solve problems independently
  • Have a strong desire and ability to help teachers grow professionally


Duties
  • Attend leadership meetings and retreats
  • Meet with camp leaders to plan camps
  • Develop advertising and publicity campaigns for the camps in conjunction with camp leaders
  • Design and produce registration forms and work in conjunction with camp leaders for appropriate distribution/publication
  • Lead the professional development component for camp leaders
  • Submit budget to the Executive Director by the appropriate date
  • Supervise the smooth operations of individual camps
  • Consult with Executive Director in selection of visiting author
  • Schedule author visits to camps
  • Provide or arrange transportation for visiting author
  • Arrange for publication of each camp’s anthology in conjunction with camp leaders
  • Maintain a notebook of camp activities and strategies
  • Maintain a notebook of Coordinator’s duties
  • Write grants in consultation with directors
  • Attend the NWP national meeting in November
  • Seek ways to improve and develop this MTWP initiative


Schedule
Average 10 hours/week January through July
30-40 hours/week during camps in June


Salary
$3000/year in two payments
